What can I post here?
Cards plus strongly card-adjacent items — premiums, encapsulated packs, recognized Exhibits/postcards, and vintage wax wrappers. No photos or autographed non-card items at this time. Autographed cards require a COA or encapsulation. No dubious grading companies or authenticators. Anything else, request approval before posting.
Specific cards that CANNOT be posted unless graded/encapsulated: Bond Bread / Sports Stars with blank backs that include Jackie Robinson. Fro-Joy Babe Ruth. Others may be added as needed.

Enter your shipping charge. You can set default values on your Account page that will pre-fill each time you create a new post.
Cards $20 and under only. Semi-rigid holder (e.g. CardSaver only — no toploaders). Instances of Postage Due reported by buyers may cause your PWE shipping option to be disabled. Uploaded photo of shipping-ready envelope with postage required of seller.
USPS tracked service with delivery confirmation. Recommended for cards $20–$500.

How It Works
This feature-packed platform was built with two intentions: to be better than any fee-charging platform and to be completely free for the overwhelming majority of users. If you sell less than $40K worth of cards each year and maintain an account in good standing, you will never be asked to contribute anything beyond your much-appreciated participation.
CommunityCardboard is a peer-to-peer posting platform for vintage baseball, basketball, football, hockey, boxing, and other sport and non-sport cards from the 19th century through 1979, a (disputed) hobby marker of the vintage era. No platform fees on transactions. Just collectors buying and selling directly with each other, with the tools and safeguards to do it honestly.
THE SHORT VERSION
CommunityCardboard members post cards. Other members claim them at the asking price or send an offer. All payments go directly between buyer and seller — CommunityCardboard is never in the middle. No shilled auctions. No DOND. No card breaks. Just cards and a price — claim it or make an offer. There are no fees on transactions, and no fees will be experienced by the majority of members...ever. The platform exists to connect collectors, not to extract from them. And who knows — maybe we'll knock eBay clean out of the fixed-price trading card space, lol. You too, FB.

Claim it or send an offer. If the price works for you, claim it at the asking price. If you'd like to negotiate, send an offer — the seller will accept, decline, or counter. Claiming at asking price is first-come, first-served.

Receive payment instructions. The seller sends you their payment handle for the method you selected — PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. Send payment directly to them and mark it sent in your claim. Include the reference number in your payment note so the seller can confirm. CommunityCardboard strongly recommends a G&S payment method paid by credit card for the most protected transaction. Although CC does consider and display previous hobby presence and reputation of users, ultimately it is every user’s individual responsibility to ensure their own actions provide the security they require.

Receive your card. The seller packages and ships the card. Before dropping it off, they upload a photo of the addressed package with postage — this is a mandatory feature of CommunityCardboard that adds a significant layer of trust to every transaction. Confirm receipt when it arrives and the claim is complete.

Post a Card. Upload front and back photos, details populate automatically, select a condition, set your asking price, and choose which payment methods you accept. PayPal G&S is required as the baseline — additional methods are optional. Post a single card or use the bulk upload tool for multiple cards at once. (CommunityCardboard's bulk upload tool is quite good at identifying cards and creating your drafts — you can mix raw and graded all in one batch, the tool does all the work!)

CC Exclusive or Cross-Posted. If a card is listed only here, mark it CC Exclusive — buyers know it's available and you commit to honoring any claim. If you're also selling it elsewhere, simply mark it Cross-Posted. Cross-Posting is totally fine and supported by the site, just keep your inventory current for the benefit of your fellow CommunityCardboard members. Unfulfilled claims on exclusive posts will cause an account to enter Improvement Status which pauses posting privileges. Improvement Status can be lifted by purchase of the appropriate Community Token as directed by CommunityCardboard.

* The purpose of this system is to keep the browsing experience fresh and reliable. Moving cross-posted cards to archive after 30 days — and eventually removing them — prevents lingering inventory of uncertain availability from cluttering the site. Presenting cards that are extremely likely or guaranteed to be available is what we're achieving here, and it's a meaningful benefit to every buyer browsing the site.

Respond to claims promptly. When a buyer claims your card, you'll receive an SMS immediately. Send your payment handle and an optional note through the platform — a transaction trail is composed entirely by simple site actions, preserving a full detailed record. Prompt response is expected and reflects your standing in the community.

Confirm payment and ship. Mark payment received, package the card, and photograph the addressed package before dropping it off — address and postage must be clearly visible. This photo is mandatory and protects both you and your buyer. Enter tracking if applicable and confirm shipped.

Bump your best cards (optional). If you have some great cards you really want to promote, you can "bump" up to 5 of your posts a day that you'd like to see gain more visibility. Bumping places that card back at the top of the Browse / Active Posts first page. You can bump a card from the card's Edit Post page, or from your Activity page by clicking "View all my posts →".

CommunityCardboard is a huge fan of raw cards. We have developed an innovative way to showcase raw card postings that give them the clout they deserve, right alongside their encapsulated counterparts. Browse the site to see it in action.

CommunityCardboard charges no fees for users accruing up to $40,000 in claims on their posts per year. This is calculated only from claims made on your posts — buying cards on the platform has no bearing on this threshold whatsoever.
Beyond that, additional Claim Capacity Unlocks are available to purchase — $40K for $399, $20K for $249, or $10K for $149. This should enable the platform to sustain itself without fee experiences for most users, enabling us to keep connecting you — the collector — with the cards you're looking for.

Shipping — Including PWE Support With Safeguards
CommunityCardboard fully supports Plain White Envelope (PWE) shipping — the simple, low-cost method that makes lower-value cards practical and affordable to buy and sell. PWE is embraced here the same way it has always been embraced by collectors. We've developed algorithmic safeguards that watch for signs of PWE non-arrival abuse and track postage-due incidents — keeping things fair for honest buyers and sellers.
For higher-value cards, tracked shipping like USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail is strongly recommended. Sellers enter the tracking number in the claim flow and buyers are notified automatically. For any shipment — PWE or tracked — the mandatory package photo creates a shipping record that protects both parties.
Trust & Integrity
CommunityCardboard is built on the premise that most collectors are honest people who want a fair, trustworthy place to buy and sell. The platform's features exist to protect that majority — not to assume bad intent, but to create accountability when it matters.
Community Badges
Badges are earned — never purchased — for achievements on both sides of the transaction. Sellers earn badges for fulfilled claims with integrity. Buyers earn badges for completed purchases. The more you participate honestly, the more your profile reflects it. Discover what's possible when you start transacting.

Every seller must photograph the addressed, postage-applied package before shipping. This is mandatory and is one of the features designed to make CommunityCardboard a trusted platform from day one — creating a shipping record that protects both parties.

Our verification system actively screens for virtual and VoIP numbers, ensuring only genuine mobile numbers can register — so every member you interact with is a real person.

Each device signs in separately, and you can sign out of this device — or out of every device at once — from your Account page.

New to CommunityCardboard?
New accounts have modest initial limits while trust is established — this protects the community from bad-faith accounts and is standard on platforms where real money and real collectibles change hands. Posts by new users are limited to a value of $250 or less and only cards listed at $500 or less can be claimed by a new user until a problem-free 5-transaction reputation is established.
If you have an established reputation in the hobby, you can fast-track full account privileges. Message us from your eBay account and/or send a message on Instagram, and we’ll verify your reputation and upgrade your account access — typically within 24 hours. CommunityCardboard is built by a collector, for collectors. It is not a corporate platform, not venture-backed, and not optimized for extraction. If the hobby needs it, it will remain. If you like what you see — use it, and tell someone who collects.

Can I list items other than cards?
Yes — but only strongly card-adjacent items: premiums, encapsulated packs, Exhibits and postcards that the community and authenticators recognize, and vintage wax wrappers. No photos or non-card autographed items are permitted at this time. Any autographed card must come with authentication — a COA or encapsulation. No dubious grading companies or authenticators. If you have a non-conforming item you think is a natural fit for the site but not mentioned above, submit it for approval rather than posting it directly.

Do I need a credit card to sign up or keep one on file?
No. CommunityCardboard does not ask for, process, or store any financial data. No credit card is required to create an account or use the platform. Payments happen entirely off-platform through whichever payment method the buyer and seller agree upon — PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle — directly between the two parties. CommunityCardboard is never in the middle of the transaction.

What if I want to claim multiple cards from the same member — is there a cart?
There is no traditional cart, but if you claim multiple cards from the same user they will appear grouped together on that member’s activity page with a prompt to communicate to you the combined shipping cost for the group.
I claimed a card and the seller says he doesn't have it anymore — what happens?
CC Exclusive: The seller committed to having the card available when posted here exclusively. If they cannot fulfill, this is a serious platform violation. The seller's platform privileges are immediately frozen. You will be notified promptly and the claim is cancelled with our sincere apology. CommunityCardboard will attempt to resolve the situation in some satisfactory manner, if at all possible.
Cross-Posted: The seller was also listing the card elsewhere and it sold through another channel. This happens occasionally and sellers are responsible for removing cross-posted cards promptly when sold elsewhere. The seller is required to notify you immediately, receives an account warning, and repeated failures result in account consequences. You will be notified and the claim is cancelled.
In both cases: if you have already paid, contact CommunityCardboard immediately through your claim thread.

I claimed a card but the condition is worse than what the seller described — what do I do?
First, contact the seller directly through the claim thread on the platform. Many condition disputes are honest misunderstandings — grading is subjective. If the seller is unresponsive or unwilling to acknowledge a genuine discrepancy, document the issue with photos and contact CommunityCardboard through your claim thread. All on-platform communication is accessible to site administrators for exactly this purpose. Sellers found to be deliberately misrepresenting condition face account consequences. This is also why keeping all communication on-platform matters — if a dispute arises, the full record of what was stated and agreed to is available to protect both parties.
Will there ever be auctions on CommunityCardboard?
The short answer is maybe — but not any time soon, and not in the traditional sense. A concept somewhat common in the hobby has been considered. If it happens, it would only be when the community is large enough to sustain meaningful bidding activity. For now, fixed-price claiming and offers are where the focus is.

A sister site for modern cards and/or Pokemon has been considered and could be launched if demand exists. For now, CommunityCardboard's focus is entirely on the vintage hobby.

Can sellers send offers to people who are watching their card?
Kind of, and maybe eventually. As of now, lowering the asking price is the trigger that will alert buyers watching a card of the new lower price — same sentiment, different execution. With the added benefit that all users will now see the more attractive price point when viewing the post, increasing the likelihood of engagement.

We don't track you or sell your data, ever. There are no privacy choices to make here because there's nothing to opt out of. The maximum privacy that's optional on other sites is always-on by default here.

Is CommunityCardboard going to add fees later? This seems too good — like really good, really.
CC will always allow users up to $40,000/year in claims on cards they post — that is my absolute baseline for making this a completely no-fee experience for the typical collector. People who just want to buy cards and get rid of their old cards will be served here, period.
If the site catches on and I don't pull the plug on the whole thing, only tiers above that might ever be adjusted based on market conditions, need, costs, whatever. But if and after a larger user base is established, other methods of keeping the lights on would be considered first.

Is this just going to turn into another site full of overpriced cards?
It will be whatever users make of it. The hope is that the simplicity, the comprehensive features, and the no-cost/low-cost philosophy of the site push people toward moving lots of cards at fair prices — volume, as opposed to swinging for a new all-time-high with every post. But a platform like this is only ever the sum of the people in it, so we'll see. Here's what I'll say: I'm not interested in propping up a museum of overpriced cards nobody's actually buying. If the site isn't getting cards into the hands of the collectors who want them, I won't keep it on life support.

1. Overview
CommunityCardboard is a peer-to-peer posting platform connecting collectors of vintage trading cards, spanning the origin of card collecting through 1979. By creating an account or using the platform in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service.

You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account. Accounts must use a genuine, personal mobile number — virtual, VoIP, and disposable numbers are not permitted. You may hold only one account.

Accounts are created and accessed via SMS one-time passcode. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Usernames are permanent and cannot be edited or changed once your account is created. Usernames may not impersonate any known hobby entity, CommunityCardboard, or its staff, nor appear to have any official CommunityCardboard affiliation or site authority. CommunityCardboard reserves the right to terminate accounts that violate naming policies.
4. The Platform — What We Are and Are Not
CommunityCardboard is a platform that facilitates communication between buyers and sellers of vintage sport and non-sport cards.
CommunityCardboard is not a party to any transaction between users. We do not process payments, handle cards, or take possession of funds. All payments occur directly between users through third-party payment services. CommunityCardboard has no involvement in or visibility into those transactions beyond the communication that takes place on the platform.
CommunityCardboard cannot dictate nor enforce any resolution to a disagreement between users. Users who do not conduct themselves with integrity and in an honest manner can and will be removed from the platform.
Sales tax: Users are responsible for understanding and meeting any applicable tax obligations. CommunityCardboard does not collect or remit sales tax. Users who are required to remit, and intend to collect, sales tax may specify applicable states in their account settings.
5. Posting
By posting a card you represent that you own it, all listing details are accurate, images shown are of the actual card, and the card is in your physical possession. AI Identification Notice: AI identification can make mistakes. It is the seller's responsibility to verify all listing details before publishing.
CC Exclusive listings: By marking a post CC Exclusive, you commit that the card is listed only on CommunityCardboard. Failure to honor a CC Exclusive claim results in immediate account suspension. A Community Token (cost varies by offense) may be offered to restore access, with proceeds going to the benefit of the community.
Cross-Posted listings: Cross-posting is permitted. You are responsible for removing cross-posted cards promptly when sold elsewhere. Repeated unfulfilled cross-posted claims result in escalating account consequences.
Eligible items: CommunityCardboard is a vintage card platform. Listings are limited to vintage cards and strongly card-adjacent items recognized by the collecting community and authenticators — premiums, encapsulated packs, Exhibits and postcards, and vintage wax wrappers. Photographs and autographed non-card items are not permitted at this time. Any autographed card must be accompanied by authentication, either a COA or encapsulation. Items outside these categories may not be listed without prior approval from CommunityCardboard. CommunityCardboard's official account may list items beyond these categories; this does not entitle general accounts to list the same or similar items without approval.
6. Claiming
By claiming a card you commit to completing the process under the agreed upon terms defined at the time of claim. Shipping is to U.S. addresses in the 50 states only, unless explicitly agreed upon between buyer and seller before the claim is submitted.
7. On-Platform Communication
All transaction-related communication should remain within CommunityCardboard's messaging and claim system. CommunityCardboard cannot provide assistance for interactions that occur entirely or partially outside the platform. Platform administrators may access on-platform communications for resolution assistance, fraud investigation, and policy enforcement.
8. Shipping
Sellers must photograph the addressed package with the buyer's address and postage clearly visible before any shipment. This photograph is mandatory and must be uploaded through the platform before the shipment can be confirmed.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to post cards you don't own, misrepresent condition or authenticity, solicit off-platform transactions with members you met through CommunityCardboard, create multiple accounts, harass other members, or engage in any fraudulent activity.
10. Account Consequences & Community Tokens
CommunityCardboard maintains records of account violations. Violations may result in warnings, posting restrictions, or suspension. Suspended and/or otherwise non-compliant accounts that are eligible to remain on the platform may obtain removal of restrictions through the purchase of a Community Token (price varies by offense). Initial account creation and continuing account access is at the sole discretion of CommunityCardboard and may be denied or revoked with or without cause and without explanation.
11. Limitation of Liability
CommunityCardboard is a platform, not a party to transactions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the actions of users, payment disputes, lost shipments, or card condition disagreements. Our total liability shall not exceed any fees paid to CommunityCardboard by that member in the preceding 12 months.
CommunityCardboard strongly recommends a G&S (Goods and Services) payment method paid by credit card for the most protected transaction. Although CC does consider and display previous hobby presence and reputation of users, no warranty is made to their conduct. Ultimately it is every user’s individual responsibility to ensure their own actions provide the security they require in any transaction completed via the communication channels provided by CommunityCardboard.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify members of significant changes.
CommunityCardboard is built by a collector, for collectors. These terms exist to protect the community, not to obfuscate or complicate it.

CommunityCardboard is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We collect only what's necessary to operate the platform, and we never sell or share it.
1. What We Collect
Your mobile phone number is collected at registration for authentication purposes only. Your username and any profile information you choose to provide — including any payment handles (such as a PayPal or Venmo username) you choose to share so buyers can pay you, and a default return address if you save one. Card listing information you post to the platform. Transaction data related to claims and offers you participate in — including the name and shipping address a buyer provides so the seller can ship the card. We do not collect or process payment card numbers, bank account details, or other financial credentials — all payments occur directly between buyers and sellers through third-party payment services.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your phone number is used solely to send you a one-time verification code at login and to send transaction-related SMS notifications — claim alerts, offer notifications, payment reminders, and shipping updates. We do not use your phone number for marketing. Your listing and transaction data is used to operate the marketplace and display your posts to other users.
3. SMS Notifications
By creating an account you consent to receive SMS notifications from CommunityCardboard related to your account activity. Message frequency varies based on your activity on the platform. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of SMS notifications at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by adjusting your notification preferences in your Account settings.
4. What We Don't Do
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising pixels or analytics that report your behavior to outside parties. We do not store payment information of any kind — payments go directly between buyers and sellers through their chosen payment methods. The one nuance worth naming: our Store's affiliate links can lead Amazon or eBay to set a cookie on that retailer's own site when you click through — covered in "Affiliate Links" below. That's the retailer's cookie, not ours, and we still don't track you here.
5. Third-Party Services
CommunityCardboard uses Twilio to deliver SMS messages and Supabase to store account and listing data securely. These services are used solely to operate the platform and are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
6. Data Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting contact@communitycardboard.com. Transaction records may be retained for a reasonable period for dispute resolution purposes.
7. Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Phone number authentication means there are no passwords to compromise. We take reasonable measures to protect your information but no system is completely immune to security risks.
8. Affiliate Links
Some links in our Store are affiliate links. They go to Amazon (we participate in the Amazon Associates program) and to eBay (we participate in the eBay Partner Network). When you click one and visit Amazon or eBay, that retailer — or its partner network — may place a cookie in your browser so that any qualifying purchase you make is credited to CommunityCardboard, and we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Whether that cookie is set depends on the privacy and cookie settings you've chosen on the retailer's own site and in your browser, and you can clear or block these cookies through your browser settings at any time. We don't set or read these cookies ourselves, and we never see your payment details or your Amazon or eBay account information. Community Tokens
Purchase requirement issued to members with a non-compliant account to restore or retain full account access. Each token tier corresponds to your assigned level — only your eligible tier will be claimable; others remain inactive. Tokens are generally assigned when a user cancels claims made on their posts: immediately for a cancelled CC Exclusive claim, or after 3 cancellations of cross-posted claims. Buyers who claim cards and fail to follow through on their commitment will also be required to claim a Token. This encourages good inventory management — so cards posted here are truly available to other users — and ensures sellers can trust buyers to honor their claims. The token amount a non-compliant account must purchase to continue site usage is roughly 5% of the cancelled claim value.

The best part, any leftover capacity from your purchase carries over into the next year.
